Our Mission

To be a relentless force for a world of longer, healthier lives.

What We Do

At the American Heart Association, we are dedicated to building a world of longer, healthier lives by fighting heart disease and stroke, the leading causes of death in the United States. We fund lifesaving research, advocate for health equity and public policies that improve care, and provide education and resources that empower people to take charge of their health at every stage of life. Through prevention, treatment innovation, and community impact programs, we work to ensure everyone, everywhere has the opportunity for a healthier future.

In Central Ohio, the American Heart Association focuses on creating lasting, community level change that improves heart health and saves lives. Across 35 counties, our work impacts more than 3 million people through efforts to control blood pressure, expand CPR readiness, improve access to healthy food, and strengthen care for chronic conditions. Last year, we achieved 40 sustainable health improvements by partnering with local health systems, schools, food pantries, and community organizations. Programs like community blood pressure hubs and Outpace CVD engage 15 local health care organizations and positively impact more than 900,000 patient lives, ensuring healthier futures for families throughout Central Ohio.
